Two doors down from Tabanero, and a quieter proposition — the bench up front, the room in back, and a cup of Cuban coffee between them.

Nicahabana is family owned and runs like it. The rolling happens where you walk in, so the first thing you meet is the work itself: leaf, bench, hands. Past that is the lounge — unhurried, no ceremony, the kind of room where an afternoon gets away from you honestly. Order the coffee. It's the point as much as the cigar is.

The Roll

Hand-rolled on site, sold by the stick or the box, and rolled to order for parties and events if you ask. The people behind the bench will tell you what's in the blend, which is the only kind of provenance worth having.

The Room

Part shop, part lounge — smaller and plainer than Sterling's four-floor polish, and better for it if what you want is a seat and a conversation. Open late Friday and Saturday, to midnight, which makes it one of the few rooms on the avenue that will still have you after dinner.

Why It's Here

Because 7th Avenue's heritage isn't only in the grand rooms. This is the working version of it — a family business rolling by hand, pouring good coffee, and letting you settle in without making an occasion of it. Come twice and they'll know you.
