A torcedor at the front of the shop, a mojito on the bar, and a live band finding its groove as the evening settles in. The Montagne family has run this corner of Calle Ocho since 1997 — with tobacco roots running some 130 years back to Las Villas, Cuba — and on weekends the smoke goes to 3 a.m.
What we look for
Walk-in preferred. The selection tells you everything about whether a place takes this seriously. We look for range, rotation, and proper climate control.
Comfortable seating. No TVs blaring. Enough space between chairs for a real conversation — or the easy quiet of good company. The room is half of it; who's in it is the rest.
Scotch, bourbon, rum. Ideally all three, done well. A cigar lounge with a weak back bar is a humidor with chairs. We expect more.
